Ryoko Is an attorney admitted in New York, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Benefit Professional (CBP) and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP). Prior to starting her own law firm LORMA, she was the partner-in-charge of the Compensation and Benefits Japanese Practice in KPMG and Ernst & Young, Big4 accounting firms and McDermott Will & Emery, a law firm.
Ryoko has provided consultation for more than 15 years to Japanese and multinational organizations on organization and human resources issues, including compensation and benefits from tax and legal perspective. She assisted in design and implementation of executive compensation, short-term and long-term incentive plans, performance evaluation systems and benefit plans including employee retirement plans. She provides C-level consulting, advising the board of directors, presidents, CEOs, CFOs and other executives on strategic and technical HR issues including succession planning, exit strategies, reorganizations, executive retirement plans and employee communications. She has also assisted in M&A HR due diligence and integration.
Ryoko has conducted seminars on topics related to organization, compensation, and benefits in locations such as Tokyo, NY, LA, San Jose, Chicago, Detroit, Columbus and Atlanta, in cooperation with organizations including Japanese Chamber of Commerce, JETRO and JBA. She has written multiple articles on related topics. She is also a member of the board of directors of Japanese American Social Services, Inc. (JASSI). She graduated with a B.A. from the University of Houston, an M.B.A. from Baruch College (CCNY) and a J.D. cum laude from New York Law School.
